“Questa mostra è dedicata a tutti coloro che lottano ogni giorno per vivere la propria vita con le persone che amano. Alle comunità gay che ogni giorno combattono contro l’omotransfobia di stato. Alle persone LGBTQ+ a cui è toccato anche imbracciare le armi per difendere i propri cari. A tutti noi che sopravviviamo in questo assurdo e insensato tempo di guerra.

All’inizio pensavo fosse sufficiente dare voce agli artisti LGBTQ+ ucraini che in questi giorni devono sopravvivere non solo alle bombe russe ma anche alla tragica omotransfobia del governo di Putin con le sue leggi contro la “propaganda gay”. Poi ho capito che era necessario cercare di allargare lo sguardo alle tante comunità gay che ancora oggi vivono nella paura per colpa di governi ostili e criminali.

Ho raccolto attorno a me e ad altri amici alcuni artisti da varie parte del mondo per ricordare a tutti, soprattuto a noi occidentali, che le libertà acquisite non sempre sono per sempre e occorre vigilare, resistere e lottare contro tutte le spinte regressive delle nostre società”.

“This exhibition is dedicated to all those who struggle every day to live their life with the people they love. To the gay communities that fight against state homotransphobia every day. LGBTQ+ people who also took up arms to defend their loved ones. To all of us who survive in this absurd and senseless time of war.

At first I thought it was enough to give a voice to Ukrainian LGBTQ+ artists who in these days have to survive not only the Russian bombs but also the tragic homotransphobia of Putin's government with its laws against "gay propaganda". Then I realized that it was necessary to try to broaden our gaze to the many gay communities that still live in fear today due to hostile and criminal governments.

I gathered around me and other friends some artists from various parts of the world to remind everyone, especially us Westerners, that the freedoms acquired are not always forever and it is necessary to watch, resist and fight against all the regressive pressures of our societies”.
