Street performance “Kyiv-Prague, 2:35”, filmed in Kyiv, Kontraktova Square.
In this work, Edward Reese and his co-author Den Humenniy studied what people felt during the 2020 COVID lockdown, when all the travels and flights were canceled. Kyiv-Prague is a route that Edward didn’t fly that corona spring. He was going to see his favorite theatre show “Welcome to Night Vale” in the capital of the Czech Republic. But for every performer the destination was different, their own.
In questo lavoro, Edward Reese e il suo coautore Den Humenniy hanno studiato cosa hanno provato le persone durante il lockdown a causa del COVID nel 2020, quando tutti i viaggi e i voli sono stati cancellati.
Kiev-Praga è una rotta che Edward non ha potuto utilizzare in quella primavera del coronavirus. Avrebbe dovuto vedere il suo spettacolo teatrale preferito "Welcome to Night Vale" nella capitale della Repubblica Ceca. Ma per ogni artista la destinazione è diversa, è la propria.

Photo/poetry collages and a performative movie are parts of a project about a transgender person on the territory of Pavlivska Psychiatric hospital in Kyiv. In Ukraine, trans people have to spend up to 2 weeks in a psychiatric ward to validate their transness, and Edward tried to cope with it using art. It’s a story of a transgender person who, by law, has to prove his right to be himself under the supervision of doctors.
Also, the work is prominent because of the location. Pavlivka is a work of art itself, and a prominent point in the architecture and history of Kyiv. The project’s team reflected the queer, creepy, breathing soul of the place.
The project's final exhibition included collages, the movie, sound art, and performative standup by Edward. It was premiered in 2021 during Pride Month in Kyiv and Odesa.
Collage di foto/poesie e un film performativo fanno parte di un progetto su una persona transgender all’interno dell'ospedale psichiatrico Pavlivska a Kiev. In Ucraina, le persone trans devono trascorrere fino a 2 settimane in un reparto psichiatrico per convalidare la loro transizione ed Edward ha cercato di farcela usando l'arte. È la storia di una persona transgender che, per legge, deve dimostrare il suo diritto ad essere se stessa sotto la supervisione dei medici.
Inoltre, il lavoro è importante per il luogo stesso. Pavlivka è di per sé un'opera d'arte e un punto di spicco nell'architettura e nella storia di Kiev. Il team del progetto ha riflettuto sull'anima strana, inquietante che si respira del luogo.
La mostra finale del progetto includeva collage, il film, la sound art e la performance di Edward. È stato presentato in anteprima nel 2021 durante il Pride Month a Kiev e ad Odessa.
